The Irvine Recap: Roller Hockey, Disneyland, and Big Future Dreams 🌺🏒

We are back with another update on the blog, and we couldn't wait to share the recap of our recent, absolutely unforgettable trip to the mainland!

Recently, the girls and women of the Hawaii Inline Hockey Inc. (HIHI) pack packed up their gear and headed across the Pacific to Irvine, California for the 2026 Women's Roller Hockey Draft Tournament.

Here is a look back at an incredible weekend of hockey, friendship, and a little bit of Disney magic.

Back for More: Aria & Evelyn Take on Irvine

For the second consecutive year, our daughters, Aria and Evelyn, were stoked to represent Hawai'i on the rink. These girls have been putting in the work, and it showed!

• Aria (13U Division): Skated hard with her team, the Ducks, left everything on the rink, and battled through a jam-packed schedule of 5 games over the 3-day tournament.

• Evelyn (9U Division): Crushed it across 3 games of action with Team Top Shelf Purple! Evelyn is truly there for the vibes—she absolutely loves the game, but she doesn’t get too worked up about the scoreboard. For her, it’s all about having fun and playing the sport she loves..

While the hockey was fast and competitive, any hockey parent knows the real magic happens between the shifts. Being able to travel across the ocean with hockey friends and interact outside of the rink is sometimes—if not always—more memorable for young players than the games themselves. From fueling up at hotel breakfasts, sharing snacks at the rink, laughing in the hallways, and spending hours playing in the hotel pool and game room, these are the moments that build lifelong bonds.

Looking Ahead: Big Dreams for Next Year 🤞

The Women's Roller Hockey Draft Tournament continues to grow every year, providing an incredible platform for girls and women in the sport. We are so grateful to the organizers for putting on such a phenomenal event.

We’re already dreaming about next year! We would love to level up our involvement for the 2027 tournament. We’ve got our fingers crossed for the opportunity to jump in as a jersey sponsor, or perhaps even partner with Women's Roller Hockey to design the official tournament T-shirt! (Stay tuned—we’re putting that positive energy out into the universe!)

Tournaments like this provide an opportunity to re-connect with friends who have moved away, but continue playing hockey.Aria & Kenzie reunited.

From the Rink to the Castle: A Disneyland Finale 🏰✨

How do you follow up an awesome, exhausting, 3-day hockey tournament? You head straight to the Happiest Place on Earth!

After the final whistles blew, we traded our skates for walking shoes and headed over to Disneyland. We feel incredibly blessed to have been able to share one of our family’s absolute favorite places with our extended hockey Ohana. Seeing the kids celebrate their hard work at the park together was the perfect ending to a perfect trip.

Mahalo Nui Loa to everyone at HIHI, the tournament organizers, and the amazing hockey community that makes trips like this possible. We’re home, we’re rested (mostly), and we’re ready to get back on the rink!
